Dear ladies,

Thank you for your faithfulness to the Performing Arts Ministry.  This is our last rehearsal before Christmas morning.  Please be prompt and prepared.  Wear white tee with black pant (not sure about tank or strapless tops).  Slick hair back in a low bun (hair net for short hair), bring your stage tool kit (make up, hair supplies, undergarments--BTW please be sure to bring biker shorts black or tan to where under your Pa'u shirts), drink and snack to stay refreshed, and be ready to help with costumes.

Christmas Production Cast Letter -- sent via email 12/13/11

December 12, 2011

Dear Ladies this is a long letter, but please read…

Thank you for being a blessing to the families of Word of Life Christian Center.  Your labor of love is not in vain.  We will reach many souls for the Kingdom of God.  The Three Kings Hula presentation is scheduled for Christmas day, December 25th for all morning services (7am, 9am, 11am) in Honolulu.  We are also on stand by to minister before the Scrooge Production between 6:30pm and 7:00pm on December 21-25 performing Christmas songs.  Those who will be selected for this segment will be contacted via text.  Please respond as soon as possible.
We already started our rehearsals, however, below is the current schedule that will help you keep current.  Sanctuary parking is available at the Queen & South Streets parking lot on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as the Halekawila Garage parking lot on Sundays.  Please bring drinks and snacks to help you stay refreshed during rehearsals and the production.  Refrain from bringing expensive jewelry, valuables or large amounts of money during this time. Our next rehearsal is December 17th at the sanctuary, 8-10am.  Here are a few notes expressed at our previous rehearsals to keep in mind:
Final cast selection will be based your ability to adapt to the WOL halau style of dance, knowing your choreography, facial expression (which includes the ability to sing with the music), and your ability to incorporate the body movements as directed by Pastor Pattie.
Carry yourself with confidence at all times (pull and keep yourself up) – remember we are representing excellence in our posture and presence.
Entering, exiting and placement on stage is everything.  Remember to know your timing and to mark your spot once you have been staged.
Follow your group leader – listen to her direction
Guard your heart and be flexible to change and adapt as directed.  The souls that we are winning for Christ is the purpose for this and all productions.
Let’s keep the unity.  You are always welcome to text your comments or questions to Kathleen.

We love you,
Hula Ministry

Thank you for your faithfulness. See you at rehearsal 8:30am tomorrow morning.  We will be completing the 3 kings choreography..."star of wonder..."  Remember to review the lyrics, it makes it easier to learn the  motions.  God Bless.

Please learn the lyrics to We Three Kings--Thank you

We Three Kings edited version – adapted for choreography
Copied from MetroLyrics.com

We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar.
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
Following yonder star.

Verse 1:
Born a king on Bethlehem's plain,
Gold I bring to crown Him again,
King forever, ceasing never
Over us all to reign

Verse 2:
Frankincense to offer have I
Incense owns a Deity nigh.
Prayer and praising all men raising,
Worship Him, God on high.

Verse 3:
Myrrh is mine: Its bitter perfume
Breaths a life of gathering gloom
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding dying,
Sealed in the stone-cold tomb.

Chorus:
O star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect Light.

November 23, 2011

Happy Thanksgiving Ladies,

This is what we will be doing at this weekʻs Christmas Production Rehearsal 11/26/11 8:30am -10:30am (not necessarily in this order):
Practice Ocean scene
Review Mele Kalikimaka & Winter Wonderland
Start Three Kings choreography
Hair and make-up session—please bring your stage tool kit (see below)**
If you need to buy makeup and donʻt know what kind, please ask for recommendations from the instructor on Saturday--it does not have to be MAC or an expensive brand.
Another rehearsal may be added on Sunday (11/27/11) -- possibly 1-3pm.  Please let me know if you are available.

The Scrooge Production is every night from Wednesday the December 21st to Sunday the 26th.  Please plan on signing up for at least one night to serve back stage.  As stagehands we assist with dressing the actors, styling hair, and applying stage makeup.  It is easy work, and we have lots of fun! Please let me know if and when you are able to serve.  The report time is 5pm and as we get closer, I will email you some items you can bring to make your tasks easier—of course optional.

The Hula Christmas Production will be Saturday night (12/24) and Sunday night (12/25).  We will have a dress rehearsal on Saturday, December 17th, report time to be announced—depending on the availability of the stage.  Please reserve these dates.  Your attendance is crucial to success of the presentation, as it affects the choreography and staging of presentation (just keeping it real).

Miracles Manifested,

Kathleen/223-3484
Let us work off the turkey together ☺

**Stage tool kit:
Hair spray, gel, brush/comb
Bobby pins—a must have (small & large), hair net (making your hair color)
Safety pins—another must have (med to large size)
Body foundation to cover tatoos and/or any blemishes
Body lotion, deodorant
Face foundation & powder (loose or compact), bronzer (for contouring) and/or blush, brown to black eyeshadow (for eye contouring) & your favorite eyeshadows, natural red lipstick, lip gloss, fake eyelashes with eyelash glue
Stand up mirror (to avoid using the restroom mirrors—it gets pretty crazy with the actors and public traffic).
Beige/nude pantie, beige/nude half slip, beige/nude strapless bra
Beige, nude or black biker shorts or girdle (to wear under your paʻu skirt)

If you receive a text from/or on behalf of Ella, can you please respond right away.  Many times her messages are time sensitive.  Receiving your response--yes, no, and/or when--helps her to coordinate the hula ministry when it is requested by pastoral leadership. Please stay spiritually and technically connected. Thank you sincerely

Devoted, Women's Conference 2011

Dear Hula Ladies,

Thank you for ministering in love and grace with the Praise & Worship team at the Women's Conference, Devoted 2011.  Your labor of love was not in vain; many lives were touched by the grace of God through your obedience.
A special Mahalo to our hula sisters:   Pua for providing the beautiful ti-leaves for our hula skirts; and Kim, Kaili and Hazel for the beautiful costumes and accessories.

Delight yourself in the Word you received from this year's conference.  There will be no hula rehearsal this week Saturday.  Relax, Refresh, and Remember to spend time in the Word and pray daily.

In His Gracious Love,
Patti
Ella

P.S Remember the check the blog daily.  You never know when something important will be posted.

HI Ladies,
Thank you for making yourself available for the video shoot. As you know we have been rescheduled to Tuesday Feb. 1, 2011.  Kaili and her grand daughter will be doing the video shoot to be consistent with the brochure advertisement for the conference.  However we do need a few items for the shoot. 3 fresh Plumeria leis, Loose plumerias and loose T-leaves.  Thank you Kuulei for providing lei needles, and Kaili for the Ipu Heke.
Our next rehearsal for Devoted has also been rescheduled to Thurs evening 6-9 at the sanctuary.  This is a mandatory rehearsal for those ladies wishing to participate in the conference opener, we will be staging and set lighting.  Please be on time. As of now the conference opener is scheduled for Sun 2-6, Weds 2-9, Fri 2-11, and Sun 2-13.  We are scheduled for worship throughout conference, if you have not submitted your availability please attach a comment to this post to be considered.
Lastly we have had some difficulty posting videos to this Blog site.  To get a copy of the choreography please bring a blank DVD to rehearsal Kathleen has offered to burn a copy for anyone requesting one.  We will no longer be posting on You Tube.
We have an exciting week ahead of us, your personal devotion time is very important please guard that time.
Thank you again for serving the ministry with your time, talent and treasure as we advance the kingdom together.  Please read Psalm 91 AMP, daily.
Love You,
Ella

Choreography videos

For your information:

The uploading of videos on blogspot.com has "issues."  Randomly, the videos will get "dropped" for no reason.  In other words, the video post don't stick.  This is a recurring problem with the program, blogspot.

For the time being, you may bring a flash drive or blank CD disk to copy the video that is being recorded at rehearsals.  Thank you for your patience as we are searching for a reliable resource to organize the ministry's video library.
